Stephanie Keogh and Tim McCarthy from our DECAMAP team spoke to Áine Kerr on the latest RTE Brainstorm podcast.
We discussed the origins of DECAMAP, starting with Research Ireland’s Defence Innovation Challenge in 2022, working with a range of stakeholders tasked with fighting wildfires in Ireland including the Wicklow Fire Service, Irish Air Corps and Coillte; how DECAMAP uses drone imagery and video to provide greater situational awareness to ground and helicopter crews; and how we are investigating DECAMAP’s uses across different sectors like outdoor events and infrastructure management in our current commercialisation phase with Enterprise Ireland.
