DECAMAP participated in Ireland’s first EU MODEX simulation exercise on Wednesday 26th March 2025, in County Wicklow. The objective of the Exercise was to assess and test Ireland’s preparedness in relation to managing large wild land and forest fires. The EU MODEX teams visit EU member states as part of these assessments and use them as an opportunity to understand and share international best practises.
The DECAMAP Geo-AI data platform played a strong role in demonstrating the utility of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in reducing risk to responders and providing rapid situational awareness to the wide range of agencies involved, including the Wicklow Fire Service, the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), the Irish Defence Forces, the Civil Defence, and Coillte.
